Home Kebumen Van Der Wijck Fortress
It is located in Gombong City, Kebumen Regency, Central Java. It was built on the XVIII century by the Dutch. It was functioned as a defense wall, but sometimes it also could be used for attacking activity.
The name of this fortress is VAN DER WIJCK. This name is put up on the right door. There is possibility that it was name of the commander at that time.
It can be reached easily by private vehicles or by public transportation. It is 21 km away from Kebumen, or 100 km from Borobudur Temple. This Fortress, sometimes, related to the name of FRANS DAVID COCHIUS (1787 - 1876), a General dutied in the west area of Bagelen. His name is used to renamed a fortress, called GENERAAL COCHIUS Fortress.
Further this defence Fortress is used to be a military school.
