Kendal Regency is a regency under the Central Java Province. Kendal is a name of its regency as well as the city name. This regency has a bordered with Java Sea up in the north, Semarang City in the east, Temanggung in the south and Batang Regency in the west.
Kendal also known as a Santri City. This is because a lot of Islamic activities occurred in Kendal. Most of their activities are located in Kaliwungu Sub-district. It's not a surprised if we can find many peoples wearing sarung and peci hat while carrying Al-Qur'an on their right hand.
Up in the northern region of Kendal Regency is dominated by coastals, while hills & mountain are mostly in the south. Some parts of Dieng Plateau (south west) dan Gunung Ungaran (south east) are used as a tea plantation.
Kendal Regency consist of 19 sub-districts, that devided into smaller villages. Central of government is in Kendal City.
Kendal is situated on the very busy Pantura Inter-Province Highway that linked Jakarta to Surabaya. Most of inter-city buses are passing through Kendal as well as train with its station Weleri, unfortunately most of long haul trains are not stop in here. However Semarang train station is quite close (30 minutes).
