Home Bantul Giriloyo Hand Made Batik
Batik is the kind of Javanese original garment drawn with certain styles. Batik craftsmen from Giriloyo, Wukirsari, Imogiri produce products such as table clothes, 'udheng', kebaya etc, which have been sold overseas. The main materials for making batik are cloth and wax.
The process is started with cutting the garment, washing it and through ' kemplong ' process to smooth the cloth.
The next step is to make pattern on the cloth using ' canthing ' followed by continuing the pattern on the other side of the garment.
After making the pattern on both sides, the next step is ' nyeceki ', this is a process of filling the cloth framed with pattern. Next is to cover part between the 'isen ' using wax.
The finishing step is 'babar' or removal of wax mechanically by scraping.
