Trowulan has some archeological sites such as temple and cemetery. According to the historical note and some epigraphs which can be trusted show that the center of Mojopahit Kingdom was located at area of Mojokerto, exactly at Trowulan.
The tourism objects that located in Trowulan Area are :
The building is called Wringinlawang temple or Jatipasar temple by local people. Probably they saw a banyan tree (wringin) located near the gate (lawang). The building is shapped a gateway resembling a temple that is cut in two vertically, and usually it is named Candi Bentar in Bali.
This temple was built to a rectangular ground plant, with four cellars/projections. It acces to the west. The building is in ruins condition, especially its roof. It has no decoration, Traces of a stupa on the roof. Brahu temple assumed was built at the 15th century. The folklore said that Brahu temple was the burial place of Brawijaya I up to I, but there are not archeological and historical evidences supporting it. Brahu temple has reconstructed in 1995.
Bajang Ratu Temple
Bajangratu is roofed gateway. Based on Ramayana, long car animal and dragon relieves, this monument is estinated built in 14th century. The gateway was function as the entrance into a sacred building to commemorate the death of Jayanegara who is stated in Negarakertagama manuscript that be returned in Wisnu's world at 1328 C. Meanwhile the Pararaton script mentioned Jayanegara was abode in Kapopongan and immoralized at Antawulan (Trowulan). This opinion supported by relief of Sri Tanjung, gate wing that have e realizing symbol.
At 1914, the regent of Mojokerto, Kanjeng Adipati Aryo Kromojoyo was found Tikus Temple unwittingly. At first the local people sight over the epidemic of taht made a nest in a pile of land. When the nest was digged up they found a temple in it, that this temple called Tikus Temple (Tikus= rat). Tikus temple is bathing place located under ground surface and face to the north. This monument was completed with a temple miniatur surrounding eight more temple miniaturs which represented Mount Mahameru, the sacred mountain and the source all of life. The water flown through the base symbolizes it. According to the shape, it is quite possible that connected with sacred ceremonies implementation.
Segaran pool is the biggest ancient pool which described Mojopahit kingdom's ability to adapt with its environment. This pool was used to recreate and serve the guests of Mojopahit Kingdom. The location of this buliding is at Trowulan.
The basin was made from bricks with 3.16 m deep and 1.6 m wide. The real functions of the basin still on archaeological research, but according to Chinese source and local folklore it was used as a recreation place to entertain foreign enjoys. It is said that after the banquet, the dishes were thrown into the basin showing that Majapahit Kingdom was very rich. The restoration of Segaran basin was begun on 1976 until 1983.
Place to keep the ancient things of Mojopahit Kingdom, it is also a place study especially for the pupils and the students. Beside that it has function as the recreation place. Its location at Trowulan.
The Great Building
It is specific building with the nuance of Mojopahit. It is often functioned as the place of art performance. Study Tour, the meeting place with comfortable and cool situation, the rest palce. Its location is at Temon Trowulan.
Siti Inggil Grave
It was the meditation place of the first Mojopahit King (R. Wijaya Kertajaya Jayawardhana) According to the story, it was "Punden" which was called Lemah Geneng (Siti Inggil). In front of Siti Inggil, there are two graves - the grave of Sapu Angin and Sapu Jagad. These grave are visited by many local or foreign visitors every friday (Jumat Legi). Its Location at Kedung Wulan Bejijong Trowulan.
Putri Cempo Grave
It is grave Mojopahit Family who where moslem. There are two gravestone, one is in grave another is in the second yard.
This temple was prepared for Udayana King from Bali who embranced Gunapriyadharmapatni Princess. From their marriege, bornt Airlangga. Jolotundo temple was built in 997M. According to the story, the water in this temple is the clearest water in the word, and the slope of Bekal Mountain, one of peak of Penanggungan Mountain, Seloliman Trawas. Its location is easy to be reached by car or motorcycle.
