National Archives Building
Jl. Gajah Mada, Jakarta West Jakarta
This building was the Palace of Governor General Reinier de Klerk. Built in 1760 it is located on Jl. Gajah Mada. After the death of the Klerk, some 20 years later, the building was bought by a man called Johannes Sieberg and after changing hands several times, it became clear that the maintenance of the building was too heavy a burden for the owner. In 1900 the Government stepped and in 1925 the Department of Mining occupied the building. Soon after, it housed the National Archives.
