Giribangun Palace was a mausoleum for the family the former of the
second Indonesian President, Suharto. It’s location was on the east of
the Surakarta City, Indonesia, to be precise in the Girilayu Village,
Matesih Sub District, Karanganyar District, around 35 km from
Surakarta, Java Island, Indonesia. This grave was built on a hill,
exact under the Mangadeg Palace, the funeral complex of the rulers
Mangkunegaran, one of the fragments of the Mataram Sultanate. The
Mangadeg Palace was in the height 750 meters on sea level, whereas
Giribangun in 666 meters on sea level.
In the Mangadeg Palace
was buried by Mangkunegara I alias Prince Sambernyawa, Mangkunegara II,
and Mangkunegara III. The choosing of the position was under Mangadeg
not without the reason; to continue respecting the rulers Mangkunegara,
remembered Ms Tien Soeharto was the descendants Mangkunegoro III.
Complex of the grave had three stages “cungkup” (the grave building):
cungkup Argo Sari in the middle of and highest, beneath it, was gotten
cungkup Argo Kembang, and lowest was cungkup Argo Tuwuh. The main door

funeral, was gotten nine other supporting buildings. Including being
the mosque, the holiday accommodation house for the Soeharto family,
the bathroom for the main pilgrim, the water reservoir, the main
gateway, two places were waiting or the place of the rest for the
tourists, the guardhouse and the special parking lot for the family's
car. Underneath, was gotten space parked that was very wide.
